John Dwyer

My mission is to help you find confidence and strength you can carry into every part of your life.

My story with fitness began where many do: on the sports field. For as long as I can remember, I was drawn to the energy of competition, the satisfaction of a personal best, and the pure joy of movement. Exercise was my playground—a source of fun, camaraderie, and physical challenge.
But that perspective shifted profoundly after I lost someone very dear to me to a horrible illness. It was a painful, defining moment that forced me to look at health and strength in a completely new light. I realized that fitness wasn’t just about scoring points or building muscle; it was a fundamental pillar of a long, vibrant life. It was about resilience, vitality, and having the energy to fully show up for the people you love.

This revelation transformed my passion. I moved from seeing exercise as a sport to understanding it as a profound act of self-care and longevity. I became fascinated by the science of how movement heals, protects, and empowers us from the inside out. I devoured knowledge, became a certified trainer, and dedicated myself to a new mission: to help others build a strong, resilient body not just for the game, but for life itself.

I founded Health Compass to be the guide I wish everyone had—one that helps you navigate beyond short-term workouts and toward lasting health, so you can live your life to its fullest potential, for years to come.

My Approach

I believe fitness is not about punishment, but about empowerment. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all workouts or shouting commands. My method is built on three pillars:
